Barton Seagrave Primary School

'Educating Children to Confidently Face the Future'

Pupil Premium

Pupil Premium Grant

In 2011-2012 the Government launched its Pupil Premium funding.  This money is allocated to schools based on the numbers of pupils in the school who are eligible for Free School Meals and the number of children whose parents are in military service.  The money is allocated to initiatives to ensure pupils reach their full potential, both academically and socially. The school recognises that there may be some socially disadvantaged children who do not qualify, or are not registered for free school meals.   Pupil Premium funding is also used to support these children.

Key priority

To narrow the gap for disadvantaged pupils by addressing inequalities and raising the attainment of pupils in low income families or those who are ‘looked after’.

What were our desired outcomes?

  • Improving the level of attainment and progress of disadvantaged pupils
  • Close the attainment gap between school and national outcomes
  • Increased access to the curriculum
  • Access to enrichment and extra-curricular opportunities
  • Increasing challenge and expectation for what pupils can achieve
  • Ensuring the learning environment is a rich stimulus for learning
